My dear dear friend Nancy is helping me get started on this long overdue blog for my early works. Here we are at the Art Gallery of Ontario getting inspired by each other... she wouldn't let me take a picture of her to add to my blog tho.
This blog documents my journey as an encaustic artist. The textures and variable translucency that can be achieved with this medium create rhythm, tension, looseness, and fluidity. Primal elements of water, air, fire and earth appear in each piece to create a connection with nature while exploring positive universal themes such as life, growth, serenity, harmony, nature, science, humanity, conservation, communication, self-actualization.

- Originally from Revelstoke, British Columbia, I moved to Toronto in 1988 to pursue a career in information technology. I have resided in the now trendy Leslieville neighbourhood of Toronto since 2002. A mostly self-taught artist, I began working with oil and acrylic on canvas as a hobby in 1992. In 2009, I began studying encaustic painting under Heather Anne Gentlemen of the HAG Atelier in the Distillery District in Toronto.
